This section is provided to share information on educational opportunities through CalAstro and our Affiliates. Over the years, Calastro has been a strong advocate for sharing with the community. However, due to increased demands on time and resources, it has become increasingly difficult to accomplsh everything that we would like to do. So it became apparent that a solution had to be found.

Recently, Calastro formed a partnership with "BackyardAstronomy.org". They have agreed to become our "right arm" when it comes to public outreach and education. They have the resources, and their primary mission is public outreach and educational programs. They have strong ties to, and are members of, Griffith Observatory, the Los Angeles Astronomical Society, and the NASA "Planetary Watch" and "Saturn Watch" projects. They are also "Affiliate" members of NASA's Public Education programs.

We will be working closely with them in the area of developing and delivering educational opportunities to "Home Schoolers" for High School credit in the area of science.

If you have any questions about the educational project opportunities, please visit the "BackyardAstronomy.org" web site and correspond directly with them. For "Home School" questions, either organization may be contacted.

For further information, they may be contacted at: http://www.backyardastronomy.org

(CONTEMPORARY LABORATORY EXPERIENCES IN ASTRONOMY)

-develops laboratory exercises that illustrate modern astronomical techniques using digital data and color images. They are suitable for high- school and college classes at all levels, but come with defaults set for use in introductory astronomy classes for non-science majors. Each CLEA laboratory exercise includes a dedicated computer program, a student manual, and a technical guide for the instructor. The technical guides describe file formats, user-settable options, and algorithms used in the programs. The most advanced CLEA labs run under Windows on PC's, or on color-capable Macintosh computers.

CalAstro is proud to be a affiliate of Project CLEA.  Please click on the banner below for more information, materials,  and educational software...

Project CLEA is Sponsored by Gettysburg College and the National Science Foundation.
